Privacy Policy
Short version: PigLat barely collects any data. The translator runs entirely in your browser — nothing you type is sent to our servers. We don't sell your data. We don't share it with anyone.
1. Who we are
PigLat ("we", "us", "our") is a free online pig latin translator available at piglat.com. PigLat is independently owned and operated by Jason Wade.
2. What data we collect
We collect very little. Here's the honest breakdown:
- Text you type into the translator: None. The translator runs 100% in your browser using JavaScript. Nothing you type is sent to our servers or stored anywhere.
- Contact form submissions: If you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address, and message. We use this only to reply to you.
- Basic analytics: We may use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit the site and which pages are most popular. This data is anonymous and aggregated — we cannot identify individual users from it.
- Server logs: Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically logs basic request information (IP address, browser type, pages visited). These logs are kept for a short period for security purposes only.
3. How we use your data
- To respond to messages you send through the contact form
- To understand how people use the site so we can improve it
- To keep the site secure and functioning properly
4. Cookies
PigLat does not use tracking cookies. If we add Google Analytics, it may set anonymous analytical cookies. You can block these using any modern browser's privacy settings or an extension like uBlock Origin.
5. Third-party services
We may use the following third-party services:
- Google Fonts: We load fonts from Google's servers. Google may log font requests. See Google's privacy policy.
- Google Analytics (optional): If enabled, Google Analytics collects anonymized usage data. See Google's privacy policy.
- Hostinger: Our web hosting provider. They may process server log data as part of their service.
6. Data retention
Contact form messages are kept only as long as needed to respond to your inquiry — typically no longer than 90 days. Anonymous analytics data is retained per Google Analytics default settings (up to 26 months).
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights including:
- The right to access personal data we hold about you
- The right to have your data deleted
- The right to correct inaccurate data
- The right to object to processing
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below. We'll respond within 30 days.
8. Children's privacy
PigLat is a general-purpose tool that anyone can use, including children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal data to us, please contact us and we'll delete it promptly.
9. Changes to this policy
If we make significant changes to this privacy policy, we'll update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to check back occasionally. Continued use of PigLat after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
10. Contact us
